About the Author
Patricia Russotti is a New Media Professor, College of Imaging Arts & Sciences at Rochester Institute of Technology. She is an artist, educator, curriculum developer, and international presenter. She provides imaging services for corporations, public service organizations and individual artistic commissions.
Richard Anderson is a working commercial photographer, a member of the Board of Directors of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), Chair of the ASMP Digital Standards Committee, Principal author of UPDIG.org, and creator of dpBestflow.org, a Library of Congress funded project. He is also the recipient of 2009 International Photographic Council (IPC) Photographer Leadership Award.

Useful but not the best workflow book

This book is ambitious. It strives to be the standard workflow reference or educational aid. The writing style is academic, meaning scholarly, and often this is a hindrance (scholars write for scholars). The subject matter travels hills and valleys in that it sometimes dwells on the obvious, while at other times skims over confusing technical topics. Mostly it takes three pages to state three paragraphs, which is another example of the academic approach.

A much better book is The Digital Photography Workflow Handbook my Juergen Gulbins and Uwe Steinmueller from Rocky Nook Publishing. This is an excellent book translated from the German work, Handbuch Digitale Dunkelkammer. Begin with this one.

Didn't Work For Me

It took about 10 or 15 minutes of looking through this book to realize it wasn't going to meet my needs. A book on the subject of best practices and workflow should be concise, yet elaborate on essential knowledge. This book was so full of theory and other fluff, I couldn't find the substance. To me, it was more like a textbook just waiting for a pop quiz. Sent it right back to Amazon who gave me a credit but not a refund. No problem, as I do a lot of Amazon shopping!

P.S.: Not what I was looking for but may work for others.....

Interesting book, and I don't regret reading it, but . . . poorly written and excessively wordy. At times it gets very dull; I skimmed a LOT. Toward the end, the weirdness factor increased by, oh, a hundred or so. By that time I definitely was NOT buying it. Still, interesting, and I think there are some good things here worth knowing.

Wow!!! I just got done reading "The Greatest Miracle in the World", and I feel speechless - not sure I can convey the beauty & wonder of this story. Because of this, I will just say that this is an amazing little book - and I highly recommend it to EVERYONE!!!

What is it about? Well, it's about many things, but the most important point I guess is that we've all forgotten just how special we are - we've begun to just settle, believing that we can't create, or don't deserve, a better life. But through this amazing story, we can all begin to see that we can have a wonderful life, and that we do, in fact, deserve it!

At the end, you will find a message that can help you begin your journey to a better, more fulfilling life - it includes just 4 points to remember & ponder. Although I don't want to "spill the beans" re: what they are, suffice it to say that they will help you to open your eyes & realize just how special YOU really are, as well as all you have to offer.

I only wish everyone could read this book - how different our world might become...

Ride your sunbeam !

The God Memorandum was introduced to me by Dr. Tom Costa, Pastor of Religious Science Church of the Desert ... near Palm Springs, California when it was incorporated into one of his many superb humorous sermons. The story itself is intriguing and I found that I couldn't put it down. After reading the "God Memorandum" chapter, I decided to do the 100 days as instructed. It wasn't easy but with each day I found it brought new positive thinking leading to new and positive decision making which created new positive experiences. It is now over a year since my 100 days. I can attest to a wonderfully changed life. A life that seems to continue to grow in love. Personally, I feel everyone should have the experience of this marvelous little book.

Another Winner of a Book

Mandino has contributed another masterpiece to the success/motivation literature. A quote attributed to Seneca helps sum up this book's theme, "soil, no matter how rich, could not be productive without cultivation and neither could our minds." This book provides the proper nourishment for the productive mind. The familiar aphorism "you are what you think" is developed in compelling fashion. Mandino is skilled in maintaining a bit of mystery as he expands upon principles familiar to readers of this genre. He holds his readers captive by the storytelling talent few possess to the degree of a few masters. Pathos is built by the characters and the situations painted in the mind's eye as the plot develops. There are some powerful insights that will motivate any reader with an open mind.

a little dissapointed

I felt that this book kind of missed its mark. Its not a bad book, its quite readable, its just not a great book. I have to say its hard to be critical of anyone that had the motivation to get up and walk the PCT, and also, well done for getting out there and writing about it. I certainly feel that the author had good intentions with the book, its just that it kind of didn't really convey the feeling of walking the PCT for me. There seemed to be a lot of detail about the towns they arrived at, and the large amounts of food they ate, the other trails users that were in the towns etc, but in between, very little about the actual walking of the trail. I realise that the towns, and the people are part of the whole experience, but it kind of took up far to much of the book. There was so little desription of the actual trail, the experiences and feelings of being there. The writing just didn't get up there with a good travel writer and you kind of felt like someone was just sitting and saying "we did this, and then this happened" and never really pulled you into the whole experience. I thought that the last section of walking in the early washington winter was where the author started to get the idea of a travel book, but by then it was a little to late.

I bought this book late last year along with some other PCT books as I hope to hike at least part of it in 2014. I just finished this and my fascination with the PCT has only increased. Keith's writing is so descriptive of his daily travels that I could visualize the environment he was in, I could almost smell the food he cooked, feel the snow hip deep and his hiking buddies are people I want to know, real people facing their daily lives head on. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys hiking. It is a wonderful read. The Last Englishman (Volume 1)

A great armchair adventure

I am an avid backpacker, and I live not far from the PCT in Washington. Because I can't take time off from making a living to be a thru-hiker, I have been section hiking the Washington PCT for the past few years. When I can't be on the trail, I am an avid reader of "armchair adventures," especially books about the PCT. Over the years I've noticed a pattern in most PCT adventure books: the first 7/8 of the book describes travels through California, the next few chapters describe hiking through Oregon, and then there are a few token pages that basically say "and then it rained in Washington and then I reached Canada. The End" Keith Foskett's book gave more than a glancing blow to the beauty of the Washington PCT, which I greatly appreciated. I also appreciated the fact that he hiked his own hike, and even though he took an alternative route through parts of Oregon due to winter weather conditions, he felt--and I agree with him wholeheartedly--that he hiked the entire PCT. His trail companions came alive on the pages of this book, and his account was both humorous and introspective--without becoming a pity party. I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish.
