Andrew Davidson is a financial innovator and leader in the development of financial research and analytics. He has worked extensively on mortgage-backed securities product development, valuation and hedging. He is president of Andrew Davidson & Co., Inc., a New York firm specializing in the application of analytical tools to investment management, which he founded in 1992.

Andrew Davidson is also co-author of Mortgage Valuation Models: Embedded Options, Risk and Uncertainty; Securitization: Structuring and Investment Analysis; and Mortgage-Backed Securities: Investment Analysis and Valuation Techniques. He has contributed to The Handbook of Mortgage-Backed Securities and other publications.

He was previously a financial analyst in Exxon's Treasurer's Department. He received an MBA in Finance at the University of Chicago and a BA in Mathematics and Physics at Harvard.

Limited, but Very Good Nonetheless

This workbook was written as a companion to "Mortgage-Backed Securities" by Davidson and Herskovitz. Frankly, I think this book works much better on its own and I would recommend Fabozzi's "Handbook of Mortgage-Backed Securities" instead as a general guide to the subject. The workbook confines itself to a limited number of topics but it covers these very well. Beginning with simple cash flow and yield calculations, the authors move on to provide guidance on (simple!) prepayment modelling, basic structuring, the yield curve and regulatory tests. The approach is attractively practical, and I think of this text as a useful secret weapon to have up one's sleeve.

Excellent book; stands on its own

While you can use this workbook with the text, it is also very useful by itself. In fact, I didn't know it was a companion to a book until after I bought it.
The topics are covered in enough detail to answer all those small questions I have. In addition, it's the only book I've found that leads the reader through the details of building a simple prepayment model. There are some advanced questions in the book for more mathematically inclined readers.

simple answer to skin care questions

I bought this book to find an easy layman's way of explaining proper health care and conditions to my clients. This book provides just that, as well as goes into more detail than expected. I actually learned a lot more from this book than when I was in Esthetics school because things were explained in such better verbiage.

Great Read!

Guilty is the third book in the Loving a Killer series trilogy by Julia Derek. This book is best read as part of the trilogy rather than as a standalone novel to best understand the characters and the plot.

Lexi Woods is spiraling out or control. She is getting more and more suspicious and drinking more and more. She get fixated that killing her husband and his mistress is the best option. She even steals a gun to carry out the crime.

In this book Jason makes a much bigger appearance. Jason shows in many ways why he loves Lexi and how tough their lives have been over the years that they have been together. I loved getting to see the story through his lives.

I found this book well written with an interesting plot. The main characters and the secondary characters were fascinating. This book is filled with twists and turns that keep you on your toes. I loved that the ending was unpredictable. I had a hard time putting this book down. Overall, this was a very captivating book.

You want to be on pins and needles? Do you want to not know what the hell is going on? Do you want a book that will pull the biggest twist I've ever seen in a book? This will not disappoint. I don't know what to say without giving anything away but I will say that you will not be sad if you read this series. The twist in this story is definitely not something I saw coming. READ!!

I am a professional social worker and I work in NYC schools. This book was masterfully accurate. It was tough and real, and most impressively, full of hope. These characters learn that they can trust themselves, trust eachother and reach for the stars. Everyone should read this book. Everyone will love this book.

Wonderful

I read this book for the second time last night (the first time I read it I was up til 2am) and it made me teary again. The people are completely lifelike, and I feel as if I know them. I would love to see a sequel with these or other kids, written only by E.R. Frank. Read this book, no matter how old you are. I'm bringing this with me when I go back to college, that's all I can say.
(and, of course, being from Montclair makes it all that much cooler)

it'll change your life, i promise

My mom bought me this book. Being a 15 year old who doesn't always want to hear what my mother has to say, I didn't want to read it. I picked it up- and I fell in love. Every single page has you feeling a different emotion, every single character leaves a little memory of them you will never forget. This book is so real, so coming-at-you that no one will be able to put it down. For me, this book was my first step to the reality out there, so ate it all up. Actually its hard to tell what ate who; I either ate the book up or it ate me, for I was so absorbed in it I might as well have lived the characters' lives right along side them. This is truly my favorite out of all the many, many, MANY books that i have ever read. Once you pick it up, there is no turning back... and it will change you.

This is a fabulous book. I honestly would recommend every woman should read it at some point in there life. It should probably be a required book for girls in middle school. This book is so motivational for women, and young ladies.

I LOVE this book. It has helped me to learn so much about myself that I didn't realize, like why I keep things to myself and why I don't try something new. Because of this book I have been able to open up just a little bit more and find out who I really am and who I am suppose to be.

Entertaining, informing and thought-provoking

For me reading `Leadership Transformed', a new book by Dr. Peter Fuda, was a rare pleasure. I'd strongly recommend it to others.

It did two things that most books of its genre (business, leadership, self-help etc.) usually fail to do; it kept me interested throughout its 190 pages, eagerly moving through the chapters as I would a good novel; and it made me think, think deeply about the both the specific content of the book and the context in which it applies.

Why was it a `page turner'?

Many business books contain one fundamental maxim, which is repeated in several guises. These books can often be summarized in one phrase - do this, or don't do that. I quickly get bored with them. It's like different dressings on the same house salad. Peter Fuda provides a much richer and more fulfilling experience as he explains the 7 metaphors for Leadership Transformation that emerged from his research. Each is sufficiently independent to merit separate attention, whilst they are sufficiently complementary and interrelated that they must be considered as a whole. So the book provides a perfect 7 course tasting menu. It's also fun to read. It's jargon free and built upon meaningful personal anecdotes from the author and his research subjects. At times it has a `reality TV' feel as we retrospectively share their experiences.

Why did it make me think?

In terms of the content, I considered each of the metaphors and how they have, or may in the future, apply to me. I'm going to try the exercises that are offered on the PeterFuda.com blog to learn more. I also thought about the attributes that underpin the `transformed' versions of the leaders who are profiled. I saw these as authenticity, humility, an openness to feedback, self-awareness and an abiding commitment. There are several mentions of spirituality in the book and this set of attributes certainly describes someone who is at peace with themselves or `comfortable in their own skin' as Fuda puts it.

Most of the changes described corrected for an absence of (or was it just the underuse of?) these attributes. Which got me to think about the context. What had caused these successful executives to adopt behaviors that were undermining their effectiveness - to appear to be inauthentic, unaware, closed, and driven by fear? To what extent were those the pressures of society in general, the expectations of business world, the culture of the particular companies in which they worked, or the prior experiences of the individuals themselves? I guess that the "Russian Doll" metaphor provides the answer - some of all of the above.

Good common sense advice. More difficult to apply in reality

In an age where so many managers just don't "get it", and I fear transitional generations are only learning the bad behavior of "intimidation and bullying" management styles, this book can be an eye opener, or at least the beginning steps on a transforming journey of introspection.

I like the brevity of the chapters and the metaphors, and they illustrate real areas of needed focus, however, the author leaves the bulk of the work and figuring out what that work might be, to the reader.

In a broad sense (and I've been there recently) there needs to be a lot of self-honesty and reflection.
Another book that came to mind while reading this was "The Power of Resilience" and how to change "negative scripts". This dovetails nicely with the "film metaphor" of "considering how your life might resemble the movie "Groundhog day" and perpetuating reality.

This book provides a nice and brief framework for laying out a road map for change.

A unique and powerful approach to transforming your leadership

I was inspired to read this book by the subtitle `how ordinary managers become extraordinary leaders'. As an entrepreneur, I love learning about the amazing feats performed in work and non work settings by very ordinary people. The idea of a book which unpicked this phenomenon in the leadership space and debunked the myth of the perfect CEO really appealed to me.

I found Leadership Transformed a fascinating and worthwhile read. I identified with some of the struggling leaders in the stories Fuda described and laughed at the warts and all accounts of their early attempts to lead. In my opinion, the seven metaphors are an accessible and very effective way to convey just the right amount of leadership theory combined with a practical take on modern philosophy and simple common sense. The practical strategies and approaches described will be equally relevant and helpful whether you work in a large corporate or a small business. As an example, this is the first leadership manual I have read which acknowledges the very real and meaningful role family and friends play as sources of leadership coaching and insight. I suspect this book is one that I will return to frequently.

Swami Paramananda, a member of the Ramakrishna Order, was the great Swami Vivekananda’s youngest monastic disciple. He was sent to the United States from India to assist in the work of the first Vedanta Society in the United States. From New York, he founded the Vedanta Centre in Boston in 1909. From then on, he lectured throughout the United States, Europe and in India. He founded two more ashramas, one in La Crescenta, California in 1923 and a second in Cohasset, Massachusetts in 1929. He also established an ashram school in India in 1931. An idealist, a mystic, a poet, an inspiring teacher, Swami Paramananda had the gift of inspiring and of providing practical instruction in spiritual living.

In a time when we are surrounded by sounds, these teachings…simple, yet profound…remind us of why silence has always been so important in spiritual life. Most of us won’t be living our lives in monasteries or convents, retreat centers or mountain top caves; however, the wise have always valued silence…periods when we place ourselves in the healing silence of nature or when we go on retreat…and in the invaluable richness of interior silence…when the “monkey mind’ finally experiences peace. A small treasure

Swami Paramananda was a student of the great Swami Vivekananda who first brought the message of Vedanta to the U.S. He established two Vedanta Centers, one in Boston and one in L.A., that are still flourishing. All of Paramananda's writings have been spiritually sustaining for me and my family for decades and I could not praise them too highly. He is a central figure in the introduction of Indian philosophy into the U.S. and I highly recommend this book to all.
