From Kirkus Reviews
Murder and kidnaping are only the tip of the iceberg in this extravagant, yet soberly plotted, tale of parapsychology run amok. Three years ago, Mira Morales's husband Tom walked into a convenience store at the wrong moment and was shot to death by a thief wearing lime-green shoelaces. Now psychic Mira's just had a horrific vision of another killing. The victim this time is criminologist/shrink Andrew Steele, who'd be renowned for his pioneering work on the Delphi project if it hadn't been kept top secret. And for good reason: Delphi had sought out convicts with psychic powers, trained them as spies and killers for the CIA, and toppled the Carter presidency. Now three escaped Delphi subjects--telepath Vic Indrio, remote viewer Eddie Manacas, and telekinetic Hal Bennet, who sports lime-green shoelaces--have joined forces for a bad-psychics' reunion. Their old handler Steele is their first target, and wily incoming FBI deputy director Lenora Fletcher (whom they accurately predict will be drawn into the case) their second. Meantime, though, Hal Bennet has big plans for Steele's wife Rae, whom he spirits off to his shack in the Everglades, planning to woo her without informing her that her husband no longer presents an obstacle. Hal's ability to reach into the minds of his enemies and victims, making them do whatever he wants or causing them blinding pain, makes him one scary guy. Even scarier is the prospect that the allegedly good guys--Rae Steele, Mira Morales (whose grandmother is also on hand to display her psychic powers), about-to-be-riffed Broward County Sheriff's Deputy Wayne Sheppard, ruthless careerist Lenora Fletcher, and Richard Evans, Fletcher's Deep Throat in the CIA--are so consumed with infighting that they'll never be able to fend off all the bad karma. MacGregor (Mistress of the Bones, 1995, etc.) pulls out all the stops--you'll find more psychics here than in the year-end issue of the National Enquirer--yet still manages to keep the pot boiling, if not quite believably, until the final surprise. -- Copyright 1998, Kirkus Associates, LP. A mesmerizing work

In South Florida, the police refuse to believe psychic Mira Morales that a bloody murder is about to occur. However, Mira's prediction turns out to be very accurate as renowned criminologist Andrew Steele is killed and his spouse is missing. Evidence points towards escaped criminal and psychic Hal Bennett for comitting both crimes.
Detective Wayne Sheppard is assigned the case. He immediately enlists the help of Mira. However, instead of a simple case of murder and abduction, the duo finds themselves struggling with the FBI, a fifteen year old experiment, and a conspiracy that makes the X-Files seem like a situation comedy.
T.J. MacGregor scribes a brilliant blending of a police procedural within a non-stop thriller. The story line is crisp, fast-paced, and feels genuine. Wayne and Mira will be well liked, believed, and accepted by the readers. However, it is Hal, who steals the show as he forces the audience to look at several moral paradoxes. Fans of conspiracy theories, psychic abilities, and police procedural will fully enjoy THE HANGED MAN.

Worthy Suspense Fare
By Hippolytos
SUMMARY: The novel that introduces psychic bookstore owner Mira Morales, her feisty grandmother Nadine, and precociously impish daughter Annie, The Hanged Man is the story of Fort Lauderdale floating detective Wayne Shepherd, searching for the killer of famed criminologist Andrew Steele and the disappearance of his wife Rae. His search leads him to a tip phoned in by a reluctant Mira, whom he draws into this web of intrigue. Also on the trail of the perpetrator is FBI big-wig Lenora Douglas, who chaired a covert operation called Delphi with the late Steele. Solving his murder is imperative to her admonition by her superior to erase all traces of Delphi.

WHY YOU'LL LIKE IT: If you enjoy elements of the supernatural in your novels, or are an aficionado of psychic detective fiction, you'll immensely enjoy this story. Mira is written as a strong, brave heroine with human foibles, and her family life is as integral to the story as her unique abilities. Shep is a rarity in the detective fiction genre - a masculine, stalwart guy who is not so entrenched in his beliefs about the system or his own ability that he is willing to disregard pertinent information, regardless if it comes from a sense other than the usual five.

WHY YOU WON'T: MacGregor attempts to invoke some sympathy for the killer from the reader, but it just doesn't wash. Everyone has a sob story, and his isn't so terrible that it excuses his actions. However, he is cleverer than most villains, and his preternatural ability is terrifying.

BOTTOM LINE: Suspenseful, action-packed, and romantic, this is a wonderful offering from a woman who always delivers compulsively readable fiction. Highly recommended.

Totally Satisfied Yet Again!
By Chase von
This is the third book I've read by T. J. MacGregor and the third time now, I've wondered why I hadn't read anything by this fantastic writer before! I had "heard of" the author's name, but until reading The Seventh Sense, couldn't even tell you the author's gender.

Not only because I'm an author myself but a book lover, I happen to know there are a plethora of authors and mountains of books and more are being pumped out daily. So much as I love to read, I do know I can't read all of them.

However, every once in a while I'll stumble on an author that just has what I call the "IT" factor. And T. J. MacGregor is swamped in... IT!

Intelligently written, humorous, mostly realistic and on so many levels, believable! From the way Mira inter acts with her daughter to the way she inter acts with her grand mother and so on.

There's rarely if ever a time in anything I've read by T.J., where I've found myself thinking what I do with a lot of other books. I.e.

"Now that's a stretch!"

To me good authors not only grab your attention and keep it, as well as entertain you, but they also teach you things you didn't know before and I've found that in all her works as well.

The Hanged Man starts with a woman who is "Psychic" (Mira) having what she first mistakes as a dream, and then realizes it isn't a dream, but really a vision and it takes off from there.

Really Takes Off! Hal, (The Monster "Psychic") and his compare's of similar ilk's aren't folks most I think, would want any where NEAR their immediate vicinity)!

Fast paced and entertaining throughout! And since it is not possible for me to read all the books I might wish to, I'm glad to have found yet another stunning author who doesn't ever disappoint!

I'll definitely be reading everything I can get my hands on by her. Finished this one, have started another one but I'm also going to make a list so I can start checking which one's I've read and haven't yet. (Did the same with Orwell, Orson Scott Card, Anne Rice, (Just the vampire ones before, and only one now since she's started writing about God), and a limited number of others in the scale of things because they have that "IT" which I've found to be extremely important. Anyone who has read a bad book knows, they can't get that time back and feels cheated.

After what I've read by T.J. MacGregor, I'm confident I won't find myself there if I keep buying her books!

(Going to get another one today, so it will be here before I've finished the latest one I've started).

I can't speak for all of this authors works... Yet... But I can D--n well say from the one's I've read so far,

I'm a definite fan!

Respectfully shared,

Chase Von
