It is texts like these that turn people off from adopting the principles ...

This is the first one star review I have ever given on Amazon and the first book I have ever thrown in the trash. It is texts like these that turn people off from adopting the principles of 5S and lean manufacturing. While the concepts of 5S are very simple, I felt like I was being talked down to in this book, and personally would feel insulted if I was given this as an employee.
The best way to learn 5S, or teach your operators, is by seeing it in practice and hearing from those on the shop floor who reap the benefits. This book does the exact opposite by reading like some awful wordy generalized employee handbook, written by a systems engineer who is trying to communicate to a technician.

The book (and series) jump started my career as a supervisor. I make all my subordinate leaders read and implement these teachings. This book teaches people how to simplify, streamline, and standardize work. It creates EFFICIENCY in the work place!!!
