When the team of archeologist Giselle Tchaikovsky discovers a mysterious crystal skull near Belize, they're double-crossed by a murderous German colleague. Giselle vows revenge, journeying to Europe where the skull has been turned over to Hitler. Once in France, however, Giselle becomes involved with Resistance members, including university scholars and early Cathar devotees, and eventually widens her quest for the skull to a campaign for peace. True to form, Giselle's quest propels her along a convoluted path through Europe and Russia, ultimately leading her to resurrect an ancient sisterhood dedicated to peace and the preservation of ancient, sacred artifacts. With one-dimensional characters, stilted dialogue and lengthy "instructional" passages, this novel moves laboriously toward a predictable Nazi-foiling finale.

About the Author
After graduating from University of North Texas Jim Marrs joined the US Army. On his release in 1968 he joined the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. Barbie VS Hitler

Oh boy.. where to start...? This story basis is a great idea. A group of women during world war two form a sisterhood against Hitler and the Axis. Great idea! The problem is the women that form this group. According to this novel, it consists of not only Barbie and Ken, but Mussolini's mistress, Stalin's daughter, and even Eva Braun! When Eva Braun entered the picture, the book became so preposterous to me, I could go no further.

The heroine is Giselle, a former ballerina turned archeologist. (Beautiful, blonde, and very well endowed in the chest department AND filthy rich.) After a dig gone bad in South America, she sets out to take back the crystal skull stolen from her and avenge her lover's death. The man she is after is an SS officer for Hitler. World war two is disrupting Europe. Barbie (Giselle) hooks up with a former lover, Michel (I'm calling him Ken) and proceeds to get sidetracked on her quest by forming the all girls club and getting a decoder to England among other things. After recruiting all the above mentioned women or at least using them in some way, the story just became too implausible for me. On top of that, I grew tired of Barbie and Ken being so perfect and "ma chere" this and "ma cheri" that. I think by page 200, readers will realize that Barbie and Ken are mad about each other.

Something else I didn't like is the lack of emotions. It was like being on the outside looking in. The characters sit around and have their conversations but what are they thinking?

A good idea. It probably would have worked for me had the characters been a bit different.

This book is a bunch of data thrown at you, with a poor attempt at hiding it within dialogue. What little action there is in this book is pretty good, but all in all, it's a snoozer.

Great book, It is Jim Marrs first novel, although he has written many Best selling factual books, he is an old investigative journalist, and this book is fact filled will true historical happenings that you probably never heard about. Written in the form of a novel to give license to the Authors conjecture.

The White elephant finally addressed

Hollywood has been untouched for quite some time in terms of its portrayals of people of color. It is time to finally address the white elephant in the room - RACE. And You Mean There's Race in My Movie? does just that. Race has either been either exaggerated to trite stereotypical images or ignored all together in Hollywood movies. Those few movies that claim to deal with race only perpetuate the images that society has long been bombarded with. I found myself constantly agreeing with the author's analysis on mainstream movies portrayal of the marginalized minority characters. The author has succinctly voiced what I have long thought to be true. It is the keen observation and articulation of the numerous observations that are valuable. The book is well organized and offers archetypes for the redundant images that people of color are compacted to play. Further, the trivia facts are quite amusing. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to challenge the same-ol' portrayals or those that dare to defend the portrayals of people of color in mainstream Hollywood movies.

Will provoke interesting, entertaining discussion

I would bet that many of us, while watching a movie, have this sinking feeling each time a character of color comes on the screen. It's not the actor we dread, rather it's the sense that we'd better get ready for yet another rendition of a stereotype. Why are movies one of the last bastions of these ridiculous stereotypes?

What I liked about "You Mean, There's Race in My Movie," is how it illuminates the archetypes with an intense amount of analysis. All with a wicked wit, making this a reference material worth the read regardless of the purpose.

well written book. straight to the point, no bulls***

the book is written in a simple language, making it easy to understand. at the same time, the contents are divided into many short chapters, making it such an 'achievement' after you finished reading a chapter. You can't wait to finish reading the next one. the examples chosen are clear, straight to the point and there is not much repetition (unlike some other books). The strategy is simple and easy to understand (similar to Dogs of the Dow). I highly recommend this book for anyone who just started learning dividend investing. Although the example are taken from London Stock Exchange, the concepts can easily be extended to any other market.

Book is for UK readers; not US readers

The book is written for UK readers. Stocks mentioned in the book are from UK stock market and the book uses UK currency like pounds and not US dollars. The appendix contains a list of dividend companies from the FTSE 350 companies. The information on taxes covers UK tax laws. First mission accomplished. So what next?

I'm giving this 4 stars because it actually made dust off the R3 I got as a gift 3 years ago and give it a chance simply because I had nothing to do and the book looked promising. I am not giving it 5 stars because there is only one tutorial which covers how to make a program to make an LCD light up. Wish there were more tutorials. The rest of the book is for the uninitiated newbies. I've had my time with it but I just couldn't find some solid uses. Now that I learned a few things though, I'm willing to give the board another chance.

Great book horribly made!

The book is just what I expected, heavy and too much info. The supplemental info is far better. I love the online material..that is worth the book in GOLD! My teachers have found discrepancies within the book.

Update: this book has literally fallen to pieces! I'm disgusted at how cheap the material is. I've used it for 2 semesters and literally they should be ashamed of themselves for this cheap material. I can't believe this book for $150!!!! Unreal! My entire class has had to tape it back together!

I will look for a better one.

When I was in nursing school the first time back in 2000-2002, we had an earlier version of this book. The earlier version was a lot easier to read than this one. This one is very big and heavy. Was obscenely expensive. The text print is too small. They have made the pages way too busy with boxes and other stuff. You add all that together and it makes a miserable textbook. I would return it right now if I didn't have more chapters to read for the RNR program I am in. Needless to say, I will definitely NOT be keeping this book for future reference. I will look for a better one.

Charming, sexy, simple

This charming comic is very easy to like - it's clearly made with such love by its writer/artist creator Mioki. Chronicling the developing romance and sex life between two male high school friends in small town America it is both romantic and erotic. Mioki's almost photorealistic ligne claire (clear line) artwork and rich colours look great and there's lots of hardcore gay sex to keep the target audience entertained. The major aspect missing from this story however is drama and to my mind it's this lack of any kind of conflict, suspense or dramatic tension that holds the story back from greater things.

Baroque Review

This volume, which includes the novel Rustic Baroque and selections from the Wooden Knife collection of short stories, offers the reader a series of glimpses back into the national history and the personal stories of the people of what is now the Czech Republic. The action of the novel is set in the very recent past, but through the medium of the work of the protagonist, a professional genealogist, the reader is carried back to the early days of communist rule, to scenes from its later, somewhat less oppressive social fabric and to the aftermath of its end. The short stories are narratives drawn from the period shortly before to shortly after communism's end. The author, and the translator, manage deftly to convey with economy and insight, the distinctive features of past cultures, and to conjure up histories of human suffering and inner conflicts which continue into the present and in all probability will be carried into the future. The book does not set out to be didactic, and it is emphatically a fabric of stories about people rather than a national history, but it left this reader with a wish to learn more about the background. We surely will hear more from this author and translator team.

About the Author

Constantin Zopounidis is Professor of Financial Engineering and Operations Research at the Technical University of Crete (Greece), Distinguished Research Professor at Audencia Nantes, School of Management (France), Senior Academician of the Royal Academy of Economics and Financial Sciences of Spain, and President of the Financial Engineering and Banking Society (FEBS). He has edited and authored 70 books with international publishers and more than 400 research papers in scientific journals, edited volumes, conference proceedings and encyclopedias, in the areas of finance, accounting, operations research and management science. In recognition of his research work, he has received several awards from international research societies such as the International Society on Multiple Criteria Decision Making, the Decision Sciences Institute, the MOISIL International Foundation, ESCP Europe and the Hellenic Operational Research Society.

Nikos Kalogeras works as an Assistant Professor of Marketing-Finance and Co-director of the Marketing-Finance Research Lab (MDRL) and MSc IB- Marketing-Finance at the Dept. of Marketing & Supply Chain Management/UM. He is also a research associate of the European Center of Corporate Engagement (ECCE), at the Dept. of Finance/UM, and the Service Science Factory (SSF)/SBE/UM. Nikos studied Economics (BSc), Economics & Management Sciences (MA), Marketing & Consumer Behavior (MSc), Financial Engineering & Management (M.Eng), Strategic Marketing-Finance (PhD) and Risk Management (Post-Doc).

Konstadinos Mattas is a Professor of Agricultural Policy. His education includes a B.Sc. in Agriculture from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (1972), a B.Sc. in Economics from University of Macedonia (1976), a M.Sc. in Agricultural Economics from University of Kentucky (1982) and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics�from University of Kentucky (1984). He has published in more than 100 international refereed journals, in collective volumes and proceedings. He has contributed to international and Greek conferences and served as a referee to several international journals.

Gert van Dijk is Professor of Cooperative Business Administration and Management at Nyenrode Business Universiteit and became Director General of the National Council of Cooperatives in 1990. He is Director of the Netherlands Institute of Cooperative Entrepreneurship. Studied Animal Husbandry and Genetics at the Agricultural University of Wageningen and Economics at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, where he also earned his PhD. He was (senior) lecturer at both these universities for a number of years. Subsequently he was Director of Multidisciplinary Research Studies at the Organization for Applied Physical Research (TNO) and later became Director of Studies for Agricultural Policy Research at Wageningen University.

George Baourakis is the Director of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania, CIHEAM–MAICh since June 2012, and the Studies and Research Coordinator of the Business Economics and Management Department of MAICh since 1989.He has co-ordinated and participated in a large number of EU (FP 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th, INTERREG I, II and III-Archimed, MED, ENPI CBC MED, Tempus, Phare, Life, Lifelong Learning, Leonardo Da Vinci, European Social Fund, etc), international and national-regional research projects. He is an Affiliate Professor in Marketing and Supply Chain Management, at the Centre of Entrepreneurship, Nyenrode University, The Netherlands Business School, while he has been appointed as Distinguished Research Fellow in Food Marketing-Management at several universities. He has published numerous papers in internationally refereed scientific journals, presented extensively at international conferences and authored/co-authored several scientific and academic books and special issues which have been distributed by renowned publishing houses.
